Tomato Moneymaker

A medium sized red heritage tomato on short(ish) indeterminate plants.

Description

Moneymaker is a mid-sized, red tomato. The semi-bush/indeterminate, regular leafed plants bear medium sized fruits starting fairly early in the season (70+ days). The plants do need staking and are best treated as an indeterminate plant with the side-shoots removed. It’s a popular, old fashioned, plant to grow but it is prone to blight so, whilst it can be grown outdoors, you need to be careful if you are in an area of the country where blight occurs.

It is a prolific cropper but, as the flavour is less intense than both Alicante and Sasha's Altai, we grow other varieties in preference. We grew Alicante in preference in 2012. There are always more tomatoes that you could grow than there is space for and Moneymaker is one of the varieties that come lower down our list of preferences.

Seed is easy to obtain both in garden centres and on the web.
