Tomato Nikolayev Yellow Cherry

Yellow Cherry heritage tomato on indeterminate plants.

Description

Nikolayev Yellow Cherry (also written Nicholayev) is said to be a rare Russian golden-yellow cherry tomato that bursts with sweet/acid flavour (but there is no explanation of its name). The vigorous compact indeterminate, regular leafed plant produces large numbers of 1-2cm fruits on trusses of 8-12 fruits spaced 20-30cm up the vine. Produces fruit even in cooler seasons. (It did well in 2012 in the UK when other cherry tomatoes struggled). An excellent bright yellow cherry tomato that we grow frequently and recommend to others.

Best picked slightly under-ripe as the flavour (in common with many yellow tomatoes) becomes milder and sweeter, losing the tart freshness that we like.
